Project Manager

Your Responsibilities
CML are looking for a Project Manager to support a growing portfolio of works on the North West & Cam Framework, giving practical and technical guidance to Works Delivery Managers, ensuring the correct execution of both permanent and temporary works.

The main duties of the role include:
- Management of Network Rail and rail related infrastructure contracts, ensuring KPIs are met in line with client expectations (estimate submissions, delivery timescales, risk scores, completion packs etc).
- Liaising with client personnel and representing CML at client deliverability meetings. Maintaining and developing client relationships on the basis of mutual trust and high standards of contract performance in line with CML Core Values.
- Collaborating with Works Delivery Managers, ensuring the day-to-day work bank is planned and resourced, in line with first principal allowances and driven by targets.
- Overseeing and driving a robust programme of works for the work bank portfolio, ensuring works are planned and resourced in line with first principal allowances and driven by required turnover targets – also ensuring effective deployment of all personnel across the framework.
- Liaise with Works Delivery Managers and the Commercial team, to review estimate submissions and final account details – analysing trends and reporting on delivery performance to the Contracts Manager, to identify contractual progress of works against programme.
- Providing technical support, guidance and practical advice to Works Delivery Managers on the Eastern Framework, ensuring competent execution of the work bank from both a permanent and temporary works perspective.
- Managing the front-end design process to ensure design deliverables are met in line with client expectations and programme milestones – achieved by driving programme dates and reviewing detail, reported via Design Managers.
- Managing delivery managers under guidance to drive safety, quality and efficiency.
- Preparing and implementing site specific management plans, ensuring site activities comply with CML Health and Safety, Quality and Environmental policies.
- Preparing and implementing site documentation and contract plans to conform, as a minimum, to the client’s requirement and specification.
Person Specification
To be successful in the role, you will be able to maintain and develop client relationships on the basis of mutual trust and high standards of project performance, promoting existing and new work opportunities.
The perfect candidate will have:
- HND or higher/ NVQ 6-7 in Construction or APM qualification, or be suitably qualified by experience.
- A minimum of 5 years’ experience of reactive Delivery Frameworks and Civil Engineering.
- PTS (Personal Track Safety).
- Experience in managing multiple projects work sites, preferably from within a Rail environment.
- Commercial and Programming experience.
- Safety Critical management and planning including incident/ accident reporting experience.
- Cost monitoring and Report writing experience.
- Experience of creating work package plans, risk assessments and lift plans.
- Sound technical knowledge of a multitude of Civils activities.
- Experience in managing multiple reactive works.
- Strong people and stakeholder management experience.
- CSCS card, NEBOSH, COSS, SMSTS are highly desirable.
- The ability to actively promote Safety Critical behaviours, CML values and a customer focussed, professional attitude across the business.
